Being born into slavery, I never thought my owner, my very mother, would sell me. And she didn’t.
I was tormented, struggling to come to terms with my new life then he narrowed it down to two things.
The man confused me at every turn with his unexpected and unattainable desires.
If only he’d speak to me.
If only he’d tell me how to avoid upsetting him.
If only I could please him.

Please take Rachael’s warning about the contents of this book. This was my first dark read that included slavery. It was tough reading in the beginning, but I kept going, and I’m glad I did. The world that Matteo and Gia live in is all they know. Once you accept that, it gets easier to read the book. Without giving any spoilers, Matteo has his reasons for buying Gia, and Gia just wants to understand how to please him. That’s pretty much her reason for existing. Matteo shows Gia things that she never experienced, due to her upbringing and circumstances.
This was an engrossing story that I couldn’t put down. It was a very dark read, and I surprisingly enjoyed it. Now, I did need some ice cream and I may or may not have cuddled with my teddy bear for a while after reading this story.
I’ve read Rachael’s MC series, and Matteo was like someone totally different wrote this book. That tells you a great deal about Rachael’s imagination and talent. If you can handle a book with graphic domestic violence, there is a great story to be told here.
Even with the tough subject matter, I give Matteo 5 stars.

I will start off with the WARNING: **Disclaimer: This is a DARK erotic Italian Mafia story. There are twisted behaviors in this book not everyone will be able to handle. Explicit, violent, and sexual scenes are involved. Not for the wary of heart.**
And, indeed this book is not for the faint of heart. If you don’t like anything in the warning don’t read this book.
Now for my review. I love dark books and Matteo is no exception! I had to read this book from start to finish with no breaks! This is Matteo’s & Gia’s story. Matteo is NOT a nice guy. I felt for Gia because she never knew why she did something wrong and was punished. I can’t say more because then I would be spoiling the story and I try my best not to.
I loved at the ending of this book Rachael gives out hotline numbers for domestic violence and human trafficking because in no way is it good. Again, make sure you read the warning!
The good news is that there is an HEA! And, since this is book 1 it looks like there will be more books in this series.
Mother by day. Writer by night. I spend a majority of my day with my children and reading while my nights are filled with the sound of the keyboard as I work on my next work.
I have written in nearly every LBGT category as well as the traditional erotic romance category.
I love to try new things and learn from every piece of work I write. I’ll write just about anything once to learn from it. I’ve even ventured out of my normal erotica genre into Monster Erotica. Doubt you’ll find me writing anything not erotic as you can barely get me to even read something out of that category, but then again, you never know what I might try next.
Never stop learning. Try everything at least once.
